Antique Ravar Kerman Pictorial Rug: Royal Court of Nadir Shah Afshar A fine specimen from the 19th century is a scene which capitulates the significance of one of the most famous rulers of the civilised world, Nadir Shah, who some suspect was the inspiration for the later European campaigns of the Napoleonic era. Ruling from 1736-1747 this is perhaps one of the most revered military leaders who famously defeated Ottoman armies as well as the Indian armies, displayed here sat on the famous Peacock Throne, with the court paying homage to their illustrious leader. The Kerman tradition shows its mastery here in the delightful floral borders that highlight a hunting scene.
